What is TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return)?
Trap-Neuter-Return (or Release) is a humane and effective method of addressing the overpopulation problem of cats, primarily outside cats.
Because TNR is successfully practiced in many communities, including rural areas, Heart of Jackson Humane Society now has a TNR program for Jackson County.
Cats are humanely trapped by the caretaker, or placed in a trap if they are socialized, and taken to an appointment scheduled by us, to be neutered/spayed and vaccinated. The cats are then returned to their outside home. Cats in this catagory may be stray, feral, barn, community, outside, etc. Not only does TNR stop the breeding cycle, it greatly improves the cats' lives because it reduces disease, fighting, and mating.
There is no charge to use our TNR services; however, we accept tax-deductible donations. For additional information regarding our TNR program, please call the shelter and leave a message. Someone will contact you.
